This is a stunning example of antique jewellery, a 9ct Rose Gold Opal Set Heart Padlock Bracelet, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1901.

The bracelet features a beautiful, chunky figaro 3+1 curb-link chain crafted from warm, rosy-hued 9ct gold. The links are substantial but hollow, giving the piece a presence on the wrist without weighing you down. Adding a touch of vibrant colour and fire are five oval cabochon opals, each bezel-set within a decorative, elongated link. The opals display a captivating play-of-colour, with flashes colour dancing across their surfaces as they catch the light.

The bracelet is completed by a charming and highly sought-after heart-shaped padlock, which serves as the clasp. It features a working hinge and a safety chain, ensuring the bracelet is both secure and authentic to its period. The back of the padlock is where the hallmarks are located, a testament to its age and origin.

This piece is a true collector's item, perfect for someone who appreciates the history and craftsmanship of Edwardian-era jewellery. It can be worn on its own as a statement piece or layered with other bracelets for a modern, eclectic look. Its elegant design and classic materials ensure it will remain a cherished piece for generations to come.

As with all vintage and antique jewellery, there are likely to be signs of wear conducive with age and use. It is an integral part of what makes them appealing, adding history, charm and individualism to each piece.
